Water

What elements make up water?
The two elements that make up water are hydrogen and oxygen.

Is water an ionic compound or a covalent compound?
Covalent

What is the shape of water?
The shape of a water molecule is also a tetrahedron.

Why does water stick to itself?
Water is a polar molecule.  One part of the atom is positive and the other part is negative. Positve and negative attract so water molecules sticks to itself very easily. Adhesion means that water also sticks very well to other things.
Why does water not stick to or mix with oil?
Oil molecules are non-polar – they have no charge. Because of this, oil molecules are more attracted to each other than to water molecules, and water molecules are more attracted to each other than to oil molecules.
